A handsome chair with a shaped and carved crest rail with nulling and punch decoration, a center rail with attractive moulding, and two wide oak panels. Two finely formed arms connect the back to the front posts. Each seat rail has a series of holes, revealing that this chair originally had a rope seat, although the current seat shows evidence of considerable age. The four legs have been tipped, and the front stretcher is a restoration, as well.

The chair has very good color and is tight and secure.

English, ca. 1640

Seat dimensions: 22 ½” X 16 ½”; Seat height: 18”; Overall height: 44 ½”
