Jan and John Maggs Antiques
Guidelines for Using MaggsList
Sellers
Contact us by e-mail with a summary of what you hope to sell. We'll get back to you ASAP.
After receiving approval, e-mail a description of each piece. This should include:
1. A 3 - 5 word description ("coin silver serving spoon", "contemporary camel-back sofa") This will be used as the link to a page carrying a more complete description and pictures.
2. A detailed description, including age, dimensions, condition, and anything else you feel is relevant. Extol the merits of the piece, but be candid about condition. Try to keep your description under 100 words.
3. 1-4 pictures. Image files should be no larger than 200 KB. If you're not sure about this, send us a sample picture and we'll we’ll gladly let you know if it works or not.
4. Price. In our experience of selling objects on jmaggs.com, we've found that the Internet is not a great place for haggling. So, we strongly recommend you come to MaggsList with a reasonable starting price. Keep in mind the fact that the world and national economics downturn has affected antiques in much the same way as real estate.
5. Your name, as you'd like it to appear in the listing. Please use your real first name. Surnames are optional.
6. Your location (city/town, and state) and contact e-mail.
When a prospective buyer contacts you, please arrange payment and delivery directly. We do not wish to be involved.
As soon as a piece sells, send us an e-mail so that we can remove the listing from our website.
MaggsList is provided as a service for our customers and friends. We neither charge for the service nor seek remuneration of any kind.
Postings are intended for non-commercial sellers only.
Unsold items will remain on MaggsList for two months from their initial posting.
Buyers
Send an e-mail to the seller. Feel free to discuss details of the potential transaction, but please do not haggle over price.
