The shipment arrives from two weeks of  antiquing in England.

THIS MONTH'S NEWSLETTER

Another hurried Newsletter, having just returned from a three-week stint in Europe. After two weeks of antiques fairs and shops in England, we spent a pleasant week vacationing and museum-hopping in Belgium. We returned home last Monday, and are still adjusting to the time change.

Our shipment arrived on Wednesday morning in two large crates. Despite the weakness of the dollar against the pound, we once again found dealers eager to do business and often able  to offset some of the monetary imbalance. The result is a better-than-average shipment, which we now have less than a week to clean and polish.

Once things are ready we'll arrange the shop in preparation for our Gala Opening this Saturday and Sunday, November 13th and 14th. We'll be open on both days from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and we'll have refreshments as usual. Click HERE for more information.

UPCOMING SHOWS

After our opening is behind us, we have three shows before the end of the year.

• On the 19th and 20th, we'll exhibit at the Wethersfield (CT) Antiques Show. More
• At the conclusion of the Wethersfield show on Saturday afternoon we'll make a brief stop in Conway to repack, then head north to Hampton Falls, New Hampshire to test the new venue for Paul Davis' Yoken's market on November 21st. More
• Our final show of 2004 is on November 27 and 28th (Thanksgiving weekend) at Staples High School in Westport, CT. More
• Now that we're no longer doing December Wilton, we'll be able to open our shop more regularly in the weeks before the holidays. With that in mind, we've been setting aside a few modestly priced "gift suggestions". These will be be on display in December. For our December shop schedule, click HERE.
• We'll start the year with a bang. On January 2, we'll return to Hampton Falls. Look for a discount card in next month's newsletter.
• On the 8th and 9th we'll be in Mystic, CT for the annual Country Cape Mystic show, now under new management. Click HERE for more information.

New Inventory

Of course, our big news is the two crates full of antiques that we've just hand-picked in England and Belgium. Those things will all be on display at our Grand Opening next weekend.

Before we left for Europe last month, however, we acquired several pieces that, because of the crunch of shows and trip preparations, never made it to last month's newsletter. These include:

• A wonderful, large, early dropleaf table

• An interesting pine server with two drawers and oversized top [SOLD]

• An early ash ladderback side chair in old surface [SOLD]

• An oil painting by Dennis Sheehan #15661

• Another oil painting by Dennis Sheehan [SOLD]

• A painting of a gentleman attributed to American portraitist Walter Ingalls [SOLD]

• A Chippendale tall chest on bracket base

• An 18th century lowboy

OUR "HOME" IN BRUSSELS

One year ago we rented an apartment in the historic center of Florence, from which we enjoyed a fabulous week in Tuscany for less than we would have paid for a single room in a cheap hotel. Encouraged by that success, we pursued similar accommodations in Ireland last April.

This fall we booked an apartment on the second-to-top floor of a high-rise building in Brussels. Time does not allow us to begin to describe our excitement and enjoyment, but a few pictures and a link to a website can be seen by clicking this link.
