Pair of marble gate weights

We recently found these beautiful weights in a shop in Maine and were captivated by their figure and form. Although they were probably created to close a garden gate, they seem equally appropriate as doorstops or bookends. Eight inches to the top of the steel eye; four inches in diameter. Probably mid-20th century.
