T. Crafts, Nashua ovoid stoneware jug



Thomas Crafts, one of Whately, Massachusetts' most important potters, opened a pottery in Nashua, New Hampshire in 1837, where pots were made under the supervision of his son James M. Crafts, but bore the T. Crafts name. In 1841 Thomas sold the Nashua pottery to his son Martin, who began manufacturing pots under his own name. This attractive ovoid was, then made between 1837 and 1841.

This pot is 11" in height and has an attractive color and is in fine condition. There is a firing chip to the left of the signature.
