A striking mahogany tea caddy with the initials “M B”

A small rectangular caddy, with two covered compartments within. The exterior is covered with a dark, subtly figured veneer, and there is a small brass plaque engraved with the initials “M B”. Each of the interior lids has a decorative knob in its center. There is an old repair to the face, around the key slot, in the shape of the initialed plaque, suggesting that the box once had a similarly shaped escutcheon.
