A large brass candle holder of octagonal form

A stately candle holder with octagonal base and shaft. The shaft was cast in two longitudinal halves which were then soldered together; the seam at the union is visible today only within the candle sockets. The octagonal shape of the base is echoed in the shaft, except for three rings along its length, which are circular. The base and shaft are peened together.

The candlestick is in very good condition, with a soft, warm glow. The underside of the base is appropriately oxidized.
