We’re posting two early bell-based candle holders this month. This example is of a rare small size. (Click HERE to see the larger piece.) Each candle holder has a turned baluster stem with two round ejector holes in its socket and a wide, circular, bell-shaped base to which the stem is joined by coarse screw threads. In good condition, with a small “chip” in its base. Quite rare.

From the Matt King estate.

Low Countries, 17th century

Diameter: 4 ½”; Height: 6 ¾”
