When extended, the nearly round top comfortably seats four; when the “gates” are closed, it shrinks to a narrow side table. The base is comprised of four legs and two hinged gates, each comprised of beautifully executed turnings. Similar turnings are found on the two long and two short stretchers.
Purchased from a Connecticut estate, it is both attractive and sturdy, with good color and in fine condition.
English, ca. 1680
Top, extended: 48” X 53”; with leaves dropped: 48” X 15” Height: 27 ¼”
