An elegant silver heart-shaped Hovedvandsaeg, or vinaigrette box, topped by a pair of lovebirds as a finial on the hinged lid top and an elegant, engraved floral design  on the front (tulip), and on the back (daffodil). For use as a locket, it has a hanging loop on a Belcher chain suspended from silver links at the shoulders. A length of silk cord has been added (a chain could be substituted) for tying it at the neck. The overall height is 4”  the width is 1 ¾” at the widest point. It is a lovely piece in beautiful condition with only some  fine scratches from gentle use and care. This is a great collector’s piece for its history as a gift given to new brides as a vessel for their perfume and love tokens.
