Georgian black-dot diamond paste shamrock ring

This Georgian gold ring just sparkles! It has been closed-back silver-set and foiled with black-dot* diamond paste starburst-faceted stones in the form of a shamrock, or clover. It is currently a size 7 ½ and has a simple rounded gold shank which joins the central mount at the shoulders.
*The "black-spot/black-dot" pastes are so named because jewelers in the 1700's and earlier would sometimes rub a spot (or dot) of black, pitch-like paint across the flat cut or pointed bottom of the culet of some faceted clear paste stones. It was often used to create the look of mine cut or European cut diamonds or gemstones when the stone was viewed from the top (or table).
