A Georgian ring in silver which has been closed-back set with a starburst-faceted black dot* large (10mm) stone at its center with a 10-stone (4mm) black dot* diamond paste halo. The undecorated silver shank joins the central mounting at the shoulders. The size is 8, and it sends flashes of light on movement.
Price: $365
*The "black-spot/black-dot" pastes are so named because jewelers in the 1700's, and earlier, would sometimes rub a spot (or dot) of black, pitch-like paint across the flat cut or pointed bottom of the culet of some faceted paste stones. It was often used to create the look of mine-cut or European-cut diamonds or gemstones when the stone was viewed from the top (or table).
